My name is Michelle and I run Mesozoic Rattery, I got my first rats in 2016 – a Silver Fawn Rex, a Russian Blue Hooded and a Striped Roan, all sadly were rescue situations and my first ever experience with rats. The three of them ended up kickstarting a love and passion that still burns in me today, and I am filled with joy and amazement at just how wonderful these “pocket puppies” really are.
I had my first litter in May 2019 under the name Gnawdowell Rattery, however, sadly only two kittens made it and so the line was lost. I regrouped and found myself having my first successful litter of Martens in August 2019, descended from Rivendell foundations. I worked with these up until early 2022 when unfortunately I lost the line due to parvovirus.
I currently breed for Dwarf in Black and Topaz.
My foundations are from Pipistrelle Rattery.
I chose to change my Rattery name in 2022 as despite being Gnawdowell since 2019 I still hadn’t gelled with the name – and as an avid dinosaur lover, I just had to make my Rattery relate to them somehow.
My goals for breeding are primarily for myself as pets, with a focus on longevity and temperament – only homing out rats that are surplus to requirement (as however much I want to, I can’t keep them all!)
Please note I am currently NOT registered with the NFRS, this is because I do not have plans to show going forward due to my physical health preventing me from attending such long days.
